Portable sign permits

Portable signs are temporary, not permanently fixed to the ground and designed so that they can be moved from one place to another. They do not include sidewalk, banner or inflatable signs.

To install a portable sign you’ll need to apply for a sign permit to make sure it complies with the Sign By-law.

Portable sign permit applications are made online or in person.

Portable sign installation

Portable signs on private property can be displayed for up to 21 days. There must be a gap of 21 days before a sign can be displayed in the same location again. You can apply for a maximum of six portable signs in a calendar year.

Portable signs on the roadside (road allowance) can only be installed by registered community groups and the Region of Peel. You can apply for a maximum of 10 roadside sign permits per year.

If you wish to register as a community group contact the Community Development Unit.
