Airport transportation vehicle licences

What you need to apply for an Airport Transportation Vehicle (APTV) or an Airport Municipal Transportation Vehicle (AMTV) licence as a driver or an owner.

To apply for an Airport Public Transportation Vehicle (APTV) driver’s licence or Airport Municipal Transportation Vehicle (AMTV) driver’s licence, you’ll need to complete and submit the following requirements within 6 months from the date of your application:

  • A Driver/Operator Licence Application
  • Proof that you’re at least 18 years old
  • Proof of Canadian Citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence, Class G minimum
  • Ontario driver’s record completed in the last 30 days
  • Original criminal record search issued within 30 days of application by Peel Regional Police or other police service in Ontario
  • Driver approval form from APTV or AMTV owner/company
  • Meet GTAA requirements, including a written exam
  • Valid airport driver’s card from the GTAA
  • A photo of you. We’ll take your photo when you apply in person.

Licence fees

A new APTV driver’s licence will cost $206.35.

A new AMTV driver’s licence will cost $191.49.

Fees are payable by cheque, debit, Visa, Mastercard or Amex.

Renewing your driver’s licence

Your licence will expire every year on your birthday. A renewal notice will be mailed to the address we have on file for you.

To renew your licence, you’ll need to submit the following documents and pay your renewal fee:

  • A Licence Renewal Application
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence, Class G minimum
  • Ontario driver’s record (provided by the Mobile Licensing Office and included in your renewal fee)
  • Valid airport driver’s card from the GTAA
  • Original criminal record search completed within 30 days of the renewal date

The annual fee to renew your APTV or AMTV licence is $186.98.

If you don’t renew your licence within one year of the expiry date, you’ll have to reapply as a new applicant.

No new Airport Municipal Transportation Vehicle (AMTV) owner’s licences are being issued at this time.

Only companies approved by the GTAA may apply for an Airport Public Transportation Vehicle (APTV) owner’s licence. To apply you’ll need to submit:

  • An Owner Licence Application. This must be completed by the business owner, partner, president or an authorized agent.
  • A GTAA airport permit in good standing
  • Articles of incorporation and/or business registration documents
  • Provincial permit for the vehicle
  • Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage and endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • Lease agreement (if vehicle is leased)
  • A copy of the motor vehicle liability insurance card and either:
    • A Ministry of Transportation Vehicle Inspection report that shows vehicle has been accepted within 60 days
    • A safety standard certificate issued within 60 days

Your vehicle must be inspected at the Mobile Licensing Office before your licence can be issued.

Licence fees

An APTV or AMTV owner’s licence will cost $395.72. Fees are payable by cheque, debit, Visa, Mastercard or Amex.

Renewing your owner’s licence

Your licence will expire every year on March 31. A renewal notice will be mailed to the address we have on file for you.

To renew your licence, you’ll need to submit the following documents and pay your renewal fee:

  • A Licence Renewal Application completed by the owner or director
  • Certificate of insurance endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • Valid master business name registration, if applicable
  • A GTAA airport permit in good standing

The fee to renew an APTV licence is $360.44. The fee to renew an AMTV licence is $350.63.

If you don’t renew your licence within one year of the expiry date, you’ll have to reapply as a new applicant.
