Employment survey

The City has conducted an annual employment survey since 2001. We ask business owners, administrators and organizational leaders across Mississauga to participate by providing key business information.

The information collected tells the City about growth, trends and changes. It helps us support the business community, shape economic strategies, guide policy, and inform infrastructure and service planning. We do this to ensure Mississauga remains a place where businesses succeed.

2025 Employment Survey

The survey is mostly conducted during in-person site visits between May and August. Post-secondary student surveyors hired by the City visit businesses across Mississauga. Businesses may also be contacted by phone or email to complete the survey.

The 2025 survey is now open online.

Sharing information about your business

By taking the survey, businesses help the City gain valuable insights about the economic sectors and employment trends across Mississauga. This information will support and guide decision-making related to future economic development that will benefit residents and local businesses.

Business that choose to be part of the directory can also increase their visibility, making it easier for potential clients and customers to find them.

The survey responses provide the City and other organizations with important information on businesses and employment opportunities in Mississauga.

It collects:

  • Business name
  • Business address
  • Business activity
  • Number of employees and employee type
  • Contact information

The information is used to:

  • Monitor economic conditions and employment across the city
  • Forecast and plan for the provision of infrastructure, services and programs
  • Understand long term economic trends
  • Support evidence-based policy development
  • Form business attraction and retention strategies
  • Track the success of local economic development initiatives
  • Build connections with local businesses and the creation of the business directory

Information provided by businesses that choose not to be a part of the business directory is treated as confidential.

The data is used internally, and only aggregated data and analysis is posted to the City’s web page for the public to view.

Businesses that choose to be a part of the business directory have the following information published online:

  • Business name
  • Business address
  • Business activity
  • Number of employees and employment type
  • Contact information

Personal information is not shared or published.

The employment survey is a point-in-time survey based on voluntary participation. The data and results may not reflect the most current circumstances, particularly in industries experiencing rapid and frequent changes.

The City does not warrant the completeness or accuracy of the information contained in the survey’s results and does not accept liability arising from the use or misuse of all or portions of such information.
