You’re invited to join us for various activities through your computer, tablet, or phone. Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun and connect with familiar friends or make new ones.  Each activity and fitness class is offered weekly (see the list below).

Monday Yarn Crafters 1:30 to 2:30 pm

Join us to connect and show off your current projects or start a new one. We would love to see and chat with you. Even if you don’t have a project on the go.

Tuesday Coffee Talk 11:00 am to 12:00 pm

Bring your favourite cup of coffee or tea and let’s chat. Each week we have a special guest joining us.

April 23 – Canada Dental Plan Care & Caregiver Benefits.

April 30 – Seated Ballet.

May 7 – Artist Talk with Jessie Chui. Learn more about her work as a floral sculpture artist and demonstrate some of the techniques she uses in her work.

May 14 – A Seasonal Hearth: Life in Victorian Mississauga. A presentation that will explore an early settler’s life in the spring season.

May 21 – Animal Services Presentation. Learn about the Animal Services shelter, the services, the law enforcement duties, and how to be responsible pet owners.

May 28 – Working Towards a Humane Country. Discover the work Humane Canada is doing to bring about a humane country through a One Welfare lens.

Wednesday Fit Break 10:30 am to 11:15 am

Join our certified fitness instructors for a variety of fun, fitness classes for all levels. Classes require little to no equipment but may vary based on the format. Where possible, we will provide options to use household items.

Each week we will present a new topic of interest. Each guest speaker will discuss the topics that matter.

April 18 – Over-the-Counter Medications (Pt. 3): Cold Medications. Learn more about options and considerations for cold medications.

April 25 – Colour Your Words Workshop. Continue working with artist and singer Carla Gonzalez Casanova to develop your poetry skills.

Materials required: Sketchbook, pens, pencils, markers, and art media on hand.

May 2 – Asian Heritage Month Presentation. Learn about the history of Asian Heritage Month and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.

May 9 – Emergency Preparedness Seminar. Designed for older adults residing in Mississauga, to prepare for emergencies and disasters.

May 16 – Spring Fire Safety. Get your home and yard ready to enjoy. Learn about spring cleaning tips to ensure your home is fire-safe.

May 23 – Identifying Barriers in Government Assistance Programs. Join to provide feedback regarding older adult experiences, challenges, and suggestions about government assistance programs.

May 30 – How to create a pollinator-friendly container garden. Learn about which plants to use and why they are good for pollinator instincts.

IMPORTANT PRIVACY & SECURITY ADVISORY:

Participants in this course are advised that this course will take place ENTIRELY ONLINE using a third-party video chatting solution called Cisco WebEx Meetings. This means that, in order to participate in the class, you will be required to download and configure the Cisco WebEx Meetings application for use on your home computer (Windows or Mac OS X), tablet (iOS or Android) or smartphone (iOS or Android).

Participants are cautioned that, by their nature, video-chatting solutions utilize the camera and microphone on their devices and that they should act accordingly. Before using WebEx Meetings, or any similar application, please ensure that your camera and microphone are functional and that they are turned OFF.

Activating your microphone or camera is entirely your choice and is not a requirement to participate in the course. However, you may not get a full experience without at least a microphone.

Be aware that it is possible that, although the City will not record the session, there is a risk that other participants (or Cisco, the WebEx Meetings solution provider) might record your voice or camera unbeknownst to you. This vendor is located in the United States and your data may end up in that jurisdiction.
