Sauga connections for older adults

You’re invited to join us for a variety of activities through your computer, tablet, or phone! During this time of physical distancing, we can all use more ways to make connections.  Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun.  Each activity and fitness class are offered on a weekly basis (see full list below).

All of our events are free, and we will never ask you for your credit card information. If you are asked to provide a credit card, it is not a legitimate City of Mississauga event.

Monday Yarn Crafters 1:30 – 2:30 pm

Join us for some time to connect and show off your current projects or start a new one. We would love to see and chat with you. Even if you don’t have a project on the go.

May 24 – Let’s make art with Leslie Ashton in a virtually guided art activity: drawing & collaging your story. Inspired by the portraits and the playfulness of artist David Hockney you will explore art making through drawing and collage. Required materials: pencils-pencil crayons-sharpies or markers, and mark-making tools you prefer, lots of paper, larger paper (thicker card if available), scissors, glue stick, reference photos of yourself (paper, picture, or on your phone), collage materials (coloured paper, photos from magazines, newspapers, envelopes, anything you find visually interesting) | Presented by Art Gallery of Mississauga Art Gallery of Mississauga

Join our certified fitness instructors for a variety of fun, fitness classes for all levels. No fitness equipment is required, but we will be making use of the things you have at home.

IMPORTANT PRIVACY & SECURITY ADVISORY:

Participants in this course are advised that this course will take place ENTIRELY ONLINE using a third-party video chatting solution called Cisco WebEx Meetings. This means that, in order to participate in the class, you will be required to download and configure the Cisco WebEx Meetings application for use on your home computer (Windows or Mac OS X), tablet (iOS or Android) or smartphone (iOS or Android).

Participants are cautioned that, by their nature, video-chatting solutions utilize the camera and microphone on their devices and that they should act accordingly. Before using WebEx Meetings, or any similar application, please ensure that your camera and microphone are functional and that they are turned OFF.

Activating your microphone or camera is entirely your choice and is not a requirement to participate in the course. However, you may not get a full experience without at least a microphone.

Be aware that it is possible that, although the City will not record the session, there is a risk that other participants (or Cisco, the WebEx Meetings solution provider) might record your voice or camera unbeknownst to you. This vendor is located in the United States and your data may end up in that jurisdiction.
