Mississauga Recreation’s reopening status: Stage 3

With guidance from Peel Public Health and government agencies we are excited to announce that our Community Centres, Fitness Centres, Indoor Pools and Arenas will be open as of September 8!


Program and service updates

Our focus for reopening is to provide modified services safely through a phased and measured approach.  Over the summer months we were able to successfully open our golf courses, day camps and outdoor pools with several modifications and safety precautions in place.  This fall, we are thrilled to increase service offerings where it is safe and we are permitted to do so to keep you safe and active.

Highlights of timelines for resumed services:

August 24: modified registered programs open for registration on

September 1: “reserve your spot” for drop-in activities is live on

September 8: drop-in activities begin and residents will pay in person after reserving their spot online

September 21: modified registered programs begin


Latest updates on the City’s COVID-19 response and service impacts.

We’re working to safely reopen all of our City facilities and amenities, including our community centres, fitness centres, indoor pools and arenas on September 8.  As we enter Stage 3, the health and safety of our residents and staff continue to be a top priority. We will work closely with Peel Public Health and will adhere to all guidelines and regulations put out by the Province and the Region of Peel.


Limited access is currently available for ice rentals and additional facilities will reopen as demand increases. Booking requests can be directed to the Customer Service Centre at 905-615-4100.

Banquet Halls

Harding Waterfront Estate is currently available for event bookings that align with gathering limits. C Banquets and BraeBen dining room will be available for bookings starting September 14 that align with gathering limits.

Community Centres, Fitness Centres, Indoor Pools

The City is working toward a reopening of facilities on September 8 with modified program registration available on Active Mississauga starting August 24. Details will continue to be communicated through our website and social media channels as they become available.

These facilities are now open:

  • Artificial turf fields (permit use only)
  • Ball Diamonds (permit use only)
  • Basketball courts
  • Beach volleyball courts
  • Bocce courts
  • BMX / Skate parks
  • Celebration Sqaure wading pool
  • Community gardens
  • Cricket Fields (permit use only)
  • Golf courses
  • Iceland Arena (specific/permit use only – please review our safety protocols prior to your visit)
  • Leash-free zones
  • Marina and Lakefront Promenade public boat launches
  • Outdoor Pools (pre-registration will be required)
  • Paramount Fine Foods Centre Sportsplex (gymnasium rentals – permit use only; please review our safety protocols prior to your visit)
  • Paramount Fine Foods Centre Community Rinks (arena floor rentals – permit use only)
  • Parks parking lots
  • Picnic areas and photography in parks (max. 10 people – permit use only)
  • Soccer Fields (permit use only)
  • Some parks amenities such as benches, shelters, structures and seasonal washrooms
  • Some playgrounds and park fitness equipment
  • Spray Pads
  • Tennis – community tennis clubs and public tennis courts
  • Track facilities at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School, Courtneypark Athletic Fields and Loyola Catholic Secondary School


These facilities are closed and will reopen as of September 8:

  • Active living centres
  • Banquet Halls (C Banquets and Harding Waterfront Estate)
  • Community centres and libraries
  • Fitness centres
  • Indoor pools
  • Mississauga Seniors’ Centre
  • Outdoor rinks (Burnhamthorpe, Celebration Square, Woodhurst)
  • Paramount Fine Foods Centre (large events remain cancelled until September 7 and the box office remains closed until further notice)
  • Some Arenas (including Vic Johnston Arena)

Programming continues at our 7 outdoor pool locations until September 6.  These programs include public recreational swims and adult lane and leisure swims with advanced online bookings only (up to seven days in advance with a limit of one spot per person, per day).

Several measures have been taken to ensure the health and safety of participants and staff. Please refer to our list of FAQs for more information on booking your swim and revised guidelines.

Registration for modified Fall programs is now available through  Programs will begin September 21.

NOTE:  Registered swim programs will not be offered this fall.

For those who enjoy drop-in activities, starting September 1, you will need to reserve your spot at  Drop in activities begin September 8.

As we enter Stage 3, City staff are working hard in preparing program offerings for the 2020 Fall Season to ensure the health and safety of our residents.  The following are some guiding principals that will be implemented:

  • Programs will be consistent with facility operating hours, incorporating proper time periods for additional cleaning and sanitization
  • Room capacities will be set based on 4 square meters per participant to support physical distancing
  • Programs that incorporate activities such as cooking and signing will not be scheduled until further notice
  • Programs that incorporate shared equipment, such as art supplies, will be reviewed and efforts will be made to make individual kits availalbe to participants
  • No prolonged contact in program offerings
  • All drop in activities will be monitired by staff to provide education and reminders regarding physical distancing

One and three month memberships:

  • Will be back-dated and withdrawn effective March 14
  • For future dated one and three month memberships, the membership will be withdrawn if expiring during closure period (temporarily up to August 31, 2020).
  • Please allow 10 business days for the credit on your account.

Twelve (12) month memberships:

Memberships that expired after the closure:

  • Where customers have paid in full, you will automatically be extended for the duration of the closure.
  • Where customers have monthly scheduled payments, due to technical limitations in our systems, you will be back-dated and withdrawn effective March 14, 2020 and credited for any charges.

Memberships that expire during the closure (temporarily up to August 31, 2020):

  • Will be back-dated and withdrawn effective March 14. Please allow 10 business days for the credit on your account.

For memberships purchased with ActiveAssist, memberships will be back-dated and withdrawn effective March 14, you will be issued a pro-rated credit for any portions paid on a pro-rated basis and your Active Assist credits will be placed back on your account for use at a later date.

The City of Mississauga continues to work closely with Peel Public Health and we have implemented several measures designed to limit physical distancing.

As of stage 3, we are allowing permitted use of:


All permits will be required to follow provincial and regional guidelines.  Groups are also required to put in place operational procedures in order to maintain appropriate physical distancing as mandated by the province. Most indoor spaces have their own Covid-19 protocols that all permits must follow.

All events and festivals have either been cancelled or postponed up until September 7, 2020.

The Freedom Pass program will be cancelled until further notice.
