City Provides Community and Cultural Groups Grant Funding for 2020

Today, Mississauga City Council approved $3.8 million in grant funding to support community and cultural groups in Mississauga.

“The City of Mississauga’s grant programs empower our local not-for-profit organizations while supporting the diverse needs of our community,” said Paul Mitcham, Commissioner, Community Services. “The support provided through these grants enhances the quality of life for our residents. They also expand our cultural and recreational offerings to different communities and support environmental protection initiatives throughout the city.”

Community Grant Program

This program assists local, not-for-profit community groups by providing multi-year, annual operating and project grants. The program aligns with the strategic priorities of the Recreation, Parks & Forestry and Environment Divisions.

A total of 16 organizations will receive funding through the Community Grant program in 2020.

Arts and Culture Grant Program

Grant funding for this program supports emerging and established not-for-profit professional and community-based arts, culture and heritage organizations in Mississauga. The grant supports the development of exemplary arts and culture programs and services that improve participation, knowledge, understanding and an appreciation of arts, culture and heritage for the citizens of Mississauga.

A total of 25 organizations will receive funding through the Arts and Culture Grant program in 2020.

Cultural Festivals and Celebrations Grants

Cultural traditions and celebrations are important for Mississauga residents and visitors. Grant funding in this area supports cultural programming and helps event attendees enjoy clean and safe venues.

A total of 18 festivals will receive Cultural Festivals and Celebrations funding in 2020.

This grant supports cultural events, projects or activities in the community.

A total of 11 groups will receive Culture Projects funding in 2020.
